Kolob Canyon

View from Observation Point

For another amazing view of Zion Canyon, you gotta do the Observation Point hike. Observation Point is even higher than Angel’s Landing and gives you a great view of the valley. You can start at the East Mesa Trail, just outside the park. The hike is about 7 miles round-trip and not too steep. Here you have a birds-eye view and that view from the top is stunning!

Scenic Drive Of Zion Canyon

And if you don’t want to walk, you can take a drive through the park. There’s a road that takes you past all the best places. The drive is about 54 miles and shows you the amazing beauty of Zion Canyon. But most of the year, you can only get there by taking the park’s shuttle bus. It’s a nice ride with stops at famous spots and trails. You can hop on and off along the way.

Zion-Mount Carmel Highway

The main part of the park is called the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway. It cuts through the park from the south entrance to the east. The road goes up the side of a mountain, giving you really nice views of the valley. It’s like a pretty road all on its own.

The special thing about it is that while the scenic drive goes through low parts of the land, this highway goes up the tall cliffs. This lets you see really amazing views. One cool part of this road is a long, narrow tunnel. That is not wide enough and It’s over a mile in length.

When you enter the tunnel and exit from the other side. The whole landscape changes to orange and cream-colored hills with pine trees. There are lots of places to stop along the road and enjoy the views.

Emerald Pool Trail

If you want something easier, there are short walks in the valley that are beautiful and not too hard. One of the most popular hikes in Zion Canyon goes to the Emerald Pools. On this walk, you can see three lovely waterfalls that fall down onto the rocks below. You usually start at the Zion Lodge. The trail is easy and passes waterfalls and pools. You can also get there from the Kayenta Trail and Grotto Trail.

Pa’rus Trail

Another choice is the Pa’rus Trail. It’s a smooth path that doesn’t go uphill too much. You can complete the trail in about two hours. This walk starts from the visitor center near the park entrance and goes to Canyon Junction. What’s neat is that you can take your dog on this path, unlike most other trails in Zion National Park.

Hiking in East Zion

If you want to explore the rocky landscape in East Zion, there are lots of trails to choose from. Here you can try many Pools Trail, which is about 2.2 miles. It’s a walk along a wash with small pools. Once you go through the tunnel, you might spot some wildlife on many Pools Trail.
